Bybybyby----- Robin, I think that it is very likely that Milton, who had participated in England's only civil war, would have drown on his own personal experiences in creating his literary interpretation of the great civil war in heaven. In reading Books V and VI I was struck by how many of the angels' arguments against Satan's rebellion seem to mirror the old divine right of kings argument. I could well imagine many of the King's supporters using simular sounding protests against Cromwell's rebellion.
