Some questions on Acts two and three.

What do these three events reveal of Peer Gynt's character?

1. Peer's confrontation with the troll king.

2. Peer's relationship with Solveig

3. Peer's relationship with his mother, Aase. Particularly in 
regards to her death.

4. (off-the-wall question) Why am I reminded of Salinger's The 
Catcher in the Rye when I read the first three acts of Peer Gynt?
