Response to Western Canon #083

Well, I'm not sure I agree that there are no Princes in power today.  How
about Singapore?  To asy nothing of Disney, GE, Microsoft...

And we might want to think abour why Machiavelli wrote the handbook:
because Italy had been the battlegroup for France, Spain, Florence, Venice,
The Papal Staes, et. al for years.  Security of the state was what was
needed.  Was the power of the Prince the means to that end or the end
itself?
